What
do Disciples believe?
We strive to
keep it simple. Avoiding all creeds, we affirm the basic confession made
by Peter and by Martha, friends and followers of Jesus: "You are
the Christ, the Son of God." We see Jesus as Lord and Savior, Mentor
and Guide, for our journey of faith. The Bible is our guide for life.
Most Disciples take the Bible seriously though not literally. Disciples
affirm the unity of all Christians, believing that our diversity is a
reflection of the human family. We believe that all are called by God
into ministry, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through our unique
and individual gifts.
How
Does One Become a Member?
Why is Membership
Important?
It's
important to actualize one's faith decision by publicly confirming one's
belief within a community of faith. Just as one enters into a covenant
union with another person, celebrating in ceremony and joyous partying,
so, too, a person makes witness to their commitment to Jesus Christ by
joining a body of believers known as the church. We welcome members by
Confession of Faith and Baptism or by Transfer of Membership. Each Sunday
in our Worship Celebration there is an opportunity for making a public
decision to become a Christ follower. If you wish to explore this further,
please call the Pastor at 772-8030.
