Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) headquarters

MFCC seeks to serve God by serving others -
doing so in a variety of ways:

  • through individual volunteering with Dogs for the Deaf; Habitat for Humanity, S.M.A.R.T. (Start Making A Reader Today), Children's Advocacy Center, Habitat for Humanity, and other local agencies;
  • in service to home-bound members, providing transportation or meals as needed;
    in mission adventures where we "get dirty for Jesus" in places like the Yakama Christian Mission in White Swan, Washington, or on "Miracle Day" outings in Oregon - may be one day or one week long.
  • by making financial contributions to our six Special Day Offerings received at Easter, Pentecost, Thanksgiving, and Christmas as well as the Reconciliation Offering (October) which builds bridges of racial understanding, and the Week of Compassion Offering (February) that addresses human needs globally that result from famines, natural disasters, and wars and acts of inhumanity;
  • Hands-on helping ventures right here on the MFCC campus include our ACCESS Pantry and Small Steps Child Care & Preschool. Both offer volunteer opportunities through the week for those seeking to help local families in a hands-on, caring way. Hours are flexible and the work is rewarding.

    On the Mission Field
    There are various Mission opportunities around the northwest. We have sent crews of volunteers for a week of worship and work at the Yakama Christian Mission in White Swan, Washington. We also participate in the annual Miracle Day, where Disciples from all over Oregon visit a particular church for a day of work on repair/remodeling projects. Future outreach dreams include annual or bi-annual trips to Quito, Ecuador, to work with Victor and Violet Vaca. Yakama Mission website

Vaca's website
Our Global Mission Partners are Victor & Violeta Vaca, who serve in Quito, Ecuador. Their work with "Fedice" focuses on providing the indigenous population in that area with education and sustainable agrarian opportunities, as well as working against human rights abuses. One example of their work is the funding of micro-loans for women in that region to purchase farm animals and equipment which help these women to become more self-sufficient and better able to provide for their children.
